A Conversation with The Onion

We had the privilege of hosting a remarkable conversation with The Onion—one of the most iconic and enduring brands in America. It was everything we hoped for in a client event: insightful, candid, and genuinely funny.

A huge thank you to Jordan LaFlure, executive editor of The Onion, for joining us and pulling back the curtain on how the team approaches its work—creatively, editorially, and strategically. Jordan shared generous, thoughtful responses to questions ranging from the editorial decision-making process to how the organization continues to evolve in a chaotic media landscape. He also offered a preview of some of the bold new moves ahead for the brand.

We’re proud to be supporting that evolution. Our team at MG Strategy + Design has been working closely with The Onion since 2024 on a comprehensive relaunch of its digital home, along with its much-anticipated return to print. It’s been an extraordinary collaboration, one built on trust, creative alignment, and a shared belief that satire matters. And we’re not done yet.
