MG’s partnership and funding team is led by Senior Associate Tiffany Shackelford, who has more than two decades of experience connecting foundations and other major funders with ideas that are inspirational and actionable.

We work with organizations on existing programs and new initiatives that require support to thrive. We believe in measurable growth through strategic partnerships and leveraging existing audiences through communities of interest. MG’s network is strong in the climate, energy and environment sectors, as well as in NGOs, nonprofits, media and public-private partnerships.

We integrate tightly with your team to spur creative solutions and deliver value. Our team has an extensive track record of success with a diverse array of clients. We’ve led seven-figure fundraising programs and built successful partnerships by deeply believing in shared goals. We aim to make positive change in the world.

We believe finding the right partner or funder is about discovering collaborations that can build over time, developing a dialogue that benefits everyone. We facilitate conversations, run group alignment and brainstorming activities, create action plans, and produce events.

Analyzing landscapes

We believe robust conversations with prospective funders for any organization come from a shared passion. We help coordinate deliverables that can only come from knowing the landscape, especially as it evolves. We offer support at in-person meetings and designing proposals.

Tiffany Shackelford

Strategic partnerships + marketing

Tiffany leads MG’s partnership and development team. She is known in the worlds of nonprofits, media, and technology for her understanding of how to engage people across platforms, delivering results in the attention economy. She has extensive strategic outreach experience with associations, publications, NGOs, foundations and nonprofits. She has built diverse teams of women across industries, with an eye towards empowerment and collaboration. She has managed fundraising, communications, marketing, audience development and digital strategy for numerous organizations, including the USC/Google Election Cybersecurity and Information Project, the Society for News Design, The Fulcrum, the BiCoastal Workforce Alliance, Massive Science, the National Governors Association, the Association of Alternative Newsmedia, the Association of Capitol Reporters and Editors, the Pew Research Center, The Pew Charitable Trusts, the International Women’s Media Foundation, and the National Association of State Budget Officers. Matt Mansfield

Matt Mansfield


Matt is the managing principal at MG, overseeing all project teams. He personally leads MG’s ongoing work with the Energy Futures Initiative, Climate Advisers Trust, National Governors Association and The Fulcrum. He has held senior editorial and product positions at CQ Roll Call, the San Jose Mercury News and National Geographic. From 2008-2013, he was a professor at Northwestern University, serving as co-director at the Medill School in D.C. He’s also the co-editor of “Truth Counts: A Practical Guide for News Consumers” (CQ 2018). Matt launched, the annual report from NASEO and EFI, as well as two political magazines for Bloomberg. Matt has worked with ESPN, NPR, the National Association of Latino Elected Officials, the Archdiocese of Washington, and many other clients. His work has garnered awards from several leading journalism and design organizations, including World’s Best-Designed™ Newspaper while in Silicon Valley.
